The VP/SVP/EVP, Corporate Client Development is a senior individual contributor and player-coach responsible for driving net-new revenue growth by selling end-to-end custom research services to insights leaders, market research buyers, and consumer intelligence teams at Fortune 1000 and high-growth brand accounts. This role sits at the intersection of consultative selling, research methodology fluency, and enterprise relationship development. The VP will be expected to personally carry and exceed a substantial new business quota while simultaneously building the processes, messaging, and market presence required to scale a high-performing corporate development function. This is not a management hand-off role, it demands a hunter mentality, a sharp point of view on the research landscape, and the discipline to operate with rigor and velocity.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to…

New Business Development

  • Proactively build and manage a robust, self-sourced pipeline; do not rely on inbound leads as a primary growth lever.
  • Identify, pursue, and win opportunities across qualitative, quantitative, and hybrid research engagements including custom studies, tracker programs, segmentation, and brand equity research.
  • Develop and execute territory and account strategies that prioritize high-potential verticals (e.g., CPG, retail, healthcare, financial services, media).
  • Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder buying environments — engaging insights directors, CMOs, VP-level research leads, and procurement simultaneously.

Consultative Selling & Research Fluency

  • Diagnose client business problems and translate them into research solutions, designing approaches with rigor with support from the custom research team
  • Confidently discuss methodology trade-offs (e.g., online qualitative vs. in-person IDI, sample source quality, survey design best practices) in client-facing conversations.
  • Partner with internal research, strategy, and operations teams to craft proposals that are both compelling and executable.
  • Serve as a credible peer to insights professionals.

Market Presence & Brand Building

  • Represent the company at key industry events (IIEX, Quirk's, The Market Research Event, ESOMAR) with a visible presence on panels, in networking, and in thought leadership.
  • Cultivate a professional network of insights buyers through LinkedIn, industry communities, and direct outreach; become a recognized name in the corporate research buyer community.
  • Partner with marketing to develop account-based and vertical-specific campaigns that generate qualified pipeline.

Organizational Contribution

  • Provide market intelligence to inform product, pricing, and positioning
  • Maintain CRM hygiene with precision: accurate pipeline stages, deal values, close dates, and next steps
  • Contribute to the development of sales collateral, case studies, and methodology narratives that differentiate the company in competitive evaluations.
  • Collaborate with delivery and client success teams post-close to ensure a seamless handoff and set the stage for account growth.
  • Support the development and training of client partners through mentorship, feedback, guidance, and, eventually, line management.

Experience & Background

  • 8 to 12+ years of progressive B2B sales experience, with a minimum of 5 years selling custom market research, consumer insights services, or adjacent research technology solutions.
  • Deep familiarity with the corporate insights buyer journey, how Fortune 1000 research teams evaluate, procure, and approve market research investments.
  • Fluency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies with the ability to hold substantive conversations about study design, sample, analysis approach, and deliverable formats without requiring internal backup.
  • Experience navigating multi-stakeholder, multi-month enterprise sales cycles with deal sizes of $75K–$500K+.
  • Strong network within the corporate research and insights community including existing relationships with VP-level or above insights buyers at CPG, retail, healthcare, or financial services brands.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including the ability to craft compelling proposals, executive presentations, and business cases independently.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and disciplined pipeline management practices.

How You Work

  • You have a relentless strategic hunter mindset. You consistently bring discipline in prioritization that builds effective pipelines through skill and effort, not inbound luck
  • You have commercial rigor. You manage pipelines and forecasts with precision, with a CRM tool always accurate and reflective of ground truth
  • You have a bias for action. You would rather take an imperfect first step than spend three weeks designing the perfect one. You adjust quickly when reality differs from the plan, and you do not need permission to move.
  • You build from the ground up and find that energizing, not exhausting. Blank-page problems are where you do your best work. You have done it before and you want to do it again.
  • You fail fast and learn faster. You do not treat a failed experiment as a failure of judgment; you treat it as data. You course-correct quickly and do not repeat the same mistake twice.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity. When the data is incomplete, you make a call, own it, and adjust when you get new information.
  • You think commercially and creatively at the same time with the impact on the customer and business as your north star. You can negotiate a contract and then turn around and design the process that makes it easy to execute.
  • You are hungry in the way that matters and collaborate across the organization, winning as a team player, genuinely motivated by building something that works and seeing the impact of it for the business and customers.
  • People trust you quickly. You communicate directly, you do what you say you will do, and you bring others along rather than operating as a solo expert.
  • You love building connections and relationships and partnerships from scratch with colleagues, customers, and partners
  • You bring a drive and resilience that is infectious across an organization. You are self-motivating and sustains a high activity level and output over long sales cycles.
